Anyone using diatomic earth filter

I am off the hoby since 10 years, and planing to start again.
I have a Vortex diatom earth filter, XL-10.
I was using it to polish the water.
I never see treads about that subject.
Do you use that

That's about all it's good for in a reef tank. I wouldn't run it all the
time.

Cant beet it for cleaning and buffering tanks, especially if you have an
floating alge bloom.
