Quiet Pump

Can anyone recommend a quiet pump?
I've used Little Giant which isn't too bad, and the Quiet One is
better yet, but can anyone recommend a quieter one? How do the Iwaki
pumps compare?

I like to make a plywood base for the pump to set on, and
bolt it down with the rubber gramets provided with the
pump, and then place two 2 1/2 inch sheets of styrophoam
under it, as most of the noise comes from vibration.

How much flow are you looking for? That will make a big difference in
the pump you will want. In General I say Little giants are pretty load,
the Quite Ones are very quite, the Iwaki is normally a little more quite
than the LG, a Genx slightly more quite, the old Custom Sea life T and S
series pumps are extreamly quite (and they are now sold as.... shoot I
can't remember the new name). For larger pumps I would suggest either a
Dolphin or Sequance pump. Direct drive pumps are normally quiter than
magnetic drive pumps. Also when using an external pump make sure you
put the pump on some type of a vibration absorbing material, ie rubber
mouse pad works great, and use a small amount of flexible tubing at the
pump to isolate any vibration from the rest of the system. The only
thing on this is that you need to upsize the tubing from the size of the
fittings on the pump so you do not restrict the flow to much.
