I am a novice into fish keeping(a week) need advice. Guess should have
done my research before getting into it. Too late for that now. Have 2
goldfishes (3 1/2 Inches) in a 15 Ltr Fishbowl. I was told by the shop
attendant, this will be enough. Is it ?

The kit came with a few water treatment chemicals: 1) granulated water
conditioner (does not say what it contains, but its a blue salt) 2)
Stress Coat (for dechlorination) 3) Stress Zyme (again for
dechlorination & development of biological filter). Is there anything
else I need for water treatment? I am in Melbourne if it helps.

Its only been a week, but the water seems dirty and cloudy. I was told
to change water every week, but I have changed it twice already. Is it
normal for the water to be dirty that quickly, or is it a sign of the
fishes in stress?

Thanks in advance.

## You can Google goldfish and come up with hundreds of online websites
explaining their care in detail. To answer your question: Each GF needs
approximately 10 gallons of well filtered and aerated water to remain
healthy. And you must check for ammonia/nitrites in a new setup -
constantly!

## You need an Ammonia and Nitrite test kit. I assume this bowl has some
kind of filter/aeration???

## You need more information than most people have the time to type out for
you. PLEASE do a search on Goldfish and their care. A bowl is not going to
work for GF.

I will tell you now that you cannot keep goldfish in a fish bowl. Some
people can pull it off for a while, but your fish will not live their
full life and will not be happy. Most goldfish grwo pretty quickly so
they will out grow a fish bowl. Also, they are messy fish and will
need a good filter to keep the water clean.

I would suggest getting at least a 10 gallon tank to start off with
your goldfish. Don't always believe the petshop people. They aren't
always well educated on the ways of fish. Your best bet is to find a
local fish aquarium store which deals mainly with fish and ask them for
advice. They are very helpful and won't lie to you just to earn an
extra buck!

The best kind of fish to keep in a fish bowl are bettas. They don't
eat much at all so they aren't messy at all. They don't need much
space, and they are very pretty. Just don't put two males together!

Hope this helps!

you need minimum of 20 gallon tank with 2 airstones and filter rated for 40 gallons,
heater to keep temp steady.
