View Full Version : Surface water tension(?)

I think that's what it's called: water tension.

Anyway, my male betta is in a 10 gallon tank. The water filter causes
too much surface water movement, imho. I think it's too much because when
I feed him his freeze-dried bloodworms, they go everywhere. Some even
get pulled to the filter and the flowing water causes them to sink.

Is there something I can do to slow down the water movement? The filter
doesn't have any sort of control on it to change the speed of the water
going through.

Thanks in advance,

Yea, it's not unusual to have to turn off the filter for a few minutes
while the fishie eat.

I never turn the filter off when feeding...senior moment - I forget to
put it back on again :-(

Depending on the tank or the fish I either feed into the filter, away
from the filter (my bettas in their 5 galls) or a mixture (a spread
across the tank) or just plain hand feed which is great fun :-)

Feeding rings can also be an option. Floating ring held to the glass with a
suction cup.
