Hi,
a friend has problem with soot spots that won't rub off on the body of his
fish and a few are getting hard curling gills. Anyone have a idea what it
is? These are people that have several ponds in the yard. Have been
watergardeners and ponders for years.
Any one have a page for JJ's ponds or her friend Kathy up in Washington
state? They use to be on rec:ponds, but trolls trashed that news group.
Thank you for any help you can give. KathyAZ

I remember reading conflicting opinions on curled gills. One place said it
was diet related and another that it's a genetic defect. Soot spots sound
like some kind of parasites. If they wont rub off they may be speckles. I
had a few Shubunkins with sooty looking spots. They weren't parasites, just
melanin in the skin. You can check www.koivet.com.
