Hi. This is the betta I just put into the Eclipse 5 that is running in the
mid 80's. The hood light is very hot, so maybe changing that to fluorescent
will help some. I also dropped the water level down below the motor, but
the temp is still running high. Maybe the water flow through the motor
housing is what really causes the water to heat up. Anyway, here's my yet
unnamed fish (a little blurry, but you get the idea):

It will help big time. Incandescent small tanks become aquarium ovens.

That is one beautiful betta Dan! Keep up the good work, I'd love to get a
betta like that - not enough room/resources for one right now though. Good
luck and later!

He is beautiful and very much like my much missed Mr Bluey........I have
squeezed in another 5 gall into the kitchen that now houses Boris...Bob
is now living in Mr Bluey's 5 gall - easy to squeeze in the 5
galls...currently researching new locations where I can put them in
without the SO noticing too quick...lol

Thanks guys. The lfs had a great selection of "standard" bettas and "show"
bettas, if that's what they are called. The one I got was just $4, but I
thought he was as nice as any of 'em.
