The plan is going along with relative few problems, so I'm now looking at a
Qtank.... The main tank will be a 29g, and the Qtank will be a 10g.
What do you have for lights? Live Rock on bare bottom? Any filtration
whatsoever?
Just a few somewhat simple questions, that I've not seen answered here or
there...

My Q-tank is a 20L, I am using a Whisper "hang on the back" filter. Mainly
for circulation, For fish shelter/Cover I have a few "used to be live"
rocks for hiding places. I don't worry about bio filtration there because
its a short term holding tank, and so small I just change the water a lot
when its in use, about 3 to 5 gal a day. When this tank is not needed its
just runs with clean water, waiting for a new addition to the tank OR a
hospital tank. with no bottom cover it works well for that too, just remove
most the rock, so they are not leaching medications into water after.
When introducing a new fish , the 3 - 5 gal a day water change is made out
of the tank the new fish is planned for, so it adjusts to the water
condition of that tank also. Plus being a reef, the new addition gets some
micro foods from that water as well.
I am using a standard cheap-o hood that came with the tank. cheap bulb too,
even most Corals won't suffer too much from a few weeks of poor lighting.
( like storm season in the wild? ) All my tanks lighting run on one timer
(12 on 12 off)
that's it

Mine is almost the same as Steve's. 20 gal tank, old bakpac hangon
skimmer, small powerhead to move the water some, and a few rocks for
the new fish to hide in and thats about it. I keep the rocks to a min
so it is easier to remove the fish when his Q time is over.
I dont have anything in it that requires specical light so I just have
an old NO fixture over the tank.
Its nothing special, mostly old parts, but it works.
