Hi there fishy folks.
I've been offline for a while due to increased neck pain (re-ruptured
cervical disk) and then I had another test to see for 100% sure if it
had re-ruptured. It's called a Myleogram. They inject dye into your
spinal canal to see whether or not the dye would go past the C5-C6
disk, but it didn't. Proving that it did re-rupture. The reason for the
test is because after a cervical diskectomy (what I had last May), it's
common for a ligament to be strectched after this surgery and it looks
the same on an MRI as a rupture, so that was the reason for this extra
test.
Well, the test hurt like hell because he was using a regular needle and
it kept wobbeling...not something you want happening inside your spine.
So he had to go to a larger, regular spinal needle. When I heard him
say that I cringed, as I've had a spinal anesthesia before and knew how
much pain those needles cause.
Because of the larger needle, some spinal fluid is lost. This gap
causes sever headaches called Spinal headaches. They're just like the
really bad Migraines. I had to be flat on my back for 2 weeks. It took
that long for my body to produce more spinal fluid (then the head aches
go away). They could have done a procedure called a "Blood Patch" where
they inject my own blood into my spinal canal. I wanted nothing to do
with more needles in my spine, so I opted not to have. However, that
was before I knew it would be 2 weeks until I was able to be upright
without my brain feeling like it was bursting out of my head (it really
felt like that). I also had all the symtpoms of bad migraines, such as
light, sound, vibrations all killing your head...and oh my goodness did
the puter screen hurt. I couldn't even look at it for 3 seconds before
I hurled from the pain.
I'm so gald that's overwith, but now I have a larger surgery ahead of
me. I have to have a cervical fusion now (with metal plate). This will
fix my neck for good now. The metal plate assures the bone graft (taken
from my hip and put into the place where my disk will be removed
completely), won't shift out of place.
It's scheduled for November 1st.
I had been thinking of a post (I forgot who wrote it--side affect of
the pain killer I'm on), but they had asked me about whether or I had
taken test results from the time I had used Bio Spira on the 75g.I
forgot what they were, but I know somebody a while ago posted here all
the specs on it...and posted updates here too.
Netmax should remember this and maybe even how long it was, possibly
even who. That way a search can be done and you'll be able to find all
the info on a daily basis during the cycling with Bio Spira. They also
had another tank going (I think...memory's bad and all)to see the
difference.
Does anyone else remember who did this test and how long ago it was?
Now I don't bother testing. After so many years in the hobby you
basically know that if your tank isn't over stocked and you keep on up
good tank husbandry, there's no real need.
With Bio Spira available, there's also no real reason for me to test
because I know it works just as it claims.
I wish I did save my results years ago when I first used it on my 75g.
I also wish I could remember who posted their results on this news
group.
Anyway, I'll probably be gone for another while after this surgery.
I think it was Elaine who wondered if I had wrote the results down...so
if anyone knows or happen to save that info, please let her know.

Hi, Tynk. It was me! I'm afraid my love of scientific data spills over
into the hobby. I've since tried BioSpira - I used it on the hospital
where I had the discus after the Clout, adding some with each water
change. I didn't get a hint of ammonia, and he was a big fish in a
small Q-tank.

I'm so sorry to hear what you've been going through. It makes our
chatting about fish seem rather trivial. I get migraines sometimes -
they're the worst! I hope your surgery goes well and your recovery is
as rapid as can be for these sorts of spine problems. Most of all, I
hope it's a complete cure for you.

My thoughts will be with you on the first.

Our thoughts are with you. Don't worry about Biospira test results. You
can kick that sleeping dog when you're feeling better.

Elaine, I'm glad you had a chance to try the BiaSpira out.
Works great, doesn't it.
It will change the hobby for the better and once their patent runs out,
more can make it and the cost will go down.
That is unless ya near live my local PetLand, lol.
I changed the gravel on my two 3gallon Eclipes tanks a few days ago.
Added BioSpria and I will have to worry not one bit about it.
That is so cool, and so wrong to me (I was stuck in the old ways for
way too many years too) that it still boggles my mind.
Oh...and do not think talking fish is trivial when I'm dealing with
this all....it really helps keep my mind on better things.
