My wife and I are new to this hobby (inherited reef tank from daughter & son-in-law). Have read, read and read and am convinced on the need for quarantine tank for new fish.
Question: Would you quarantine hermit crabs, cleaner shrimp, snails etc? Could pathogens come in with them or on their shells? Again, sorry for the dumb question, but we're trying to do this right and I am not experienced enough to be creating more problems than I need.
TIA

Pathogens can ride in with them aswell and it would be prudent to quarantine everything before putting in the tank. Join an online reef forum and use the search functions, this will be a great source of info for you.

I wouldn't quarantine the clean up crew you described. Those are fine
to add.

I would'nt doubt Marc's advice but I thought snails were renowned for
carriers of pathogens. No?

I've never had any problems with them, though I agree that they have been
known to be carriers.

I've never had any surprises from any of the snails I've ever brought
in, and I buy them 100 at a time now. I guess YMMV.

I've never had anything that I can at least put my finger on from
snails, crabs & skrimpies. :-)
But I haven't plopped any in from the Gulf with hair algae or anything
covering the shells. If I had gathered some from the Gulf they got a
scrubbing
with a toothbrush first and a rinse. And from LFS just acclimated a
little and
dropped in as long as there was nothing noticeable on the shells.
