View Full Version : What is an LFS?

I was reading this group last evening just to see what there was to
see. My wife and I owned a pet store for 10 years from 1976 to 1987
and prided ourselves on our fresh and salt warter selection and
quality.
Anyway, I came across several references to LFS and can't figure out
what it might mean. I GoogledLFS and got a number of hits but they
all used the term and I didn't find any explanation of what it meant.
Thanks for you answer! PS Salt water keeping has certainly changed
over the past years!

LSF = Local Fish Store (or shop)
Sal****er keeping has changed, but I think it's for the better, far
easier to keep marines nowadays with the knowledge and methods available.

Local Fish Shop I think. The store where you buy stuff anyway. To me LFS
sounds more like the shop you buy your take-a-way fish and chips from :))

Live Fish Store
Local Fish Store
Live Fish Shop
Local Fish Shop
etc...
p.s. "etc" means "et cetera" which is Latin for "and others" ;-)

Sorry for not being more clear before. I spend my time mostly in a
couple of metalworking related groups and folks on those groups know
where I am and I know for the most part where theyare including the
guys in OZ.

Large Polyp Stony (coral)
LPS can also be Local Pet Store, but on fish forums people
use LFS.
And I was joking around saying that yesterday people will
be going to their Local Petrolim Store to get LP (propane)
for the grill :-)

I'm trying to learn all the American state abbreviations as I see them
written (just for something to do). Gets a little cold up there, eh.
I'm in south east Qld, Oz - a tiny town that won't be on most maps :)
