I forgot to mention that before surgery I had to go hit the shops.
I got so lucky and found a lovely copper male Betta (Delta tail).
He's so sweet and changes color all the time. His coloring doesn't come
out well in photos, but I have a couple that did.
Sometimes he's kind of a whine colored with copper over it and
sometimes he's kind of a coppery greenish.
At first he was so silly at feeding time. I would open the lid on his
3g Eclipse and he would dash off to hide behind his Amazon Sword plant.
Every time I opened that lid he'd do this.....and every time he would
peak his head out until he felt safe enough to come out.
It was the cutest thing. 2 days ago he started to feel safe enough with
the opening of the lid and didn't hide.
I also (was talked into it by my daughter) bought a simple veil male
that was a neat color. Kind of like a Mustard Gas, but instead of
yellow and blue, he's blue with a sunset color to him. Very pretty but
not the greatest looking fin formation, so no breeding intentions with
that guy.
Of course all spawning is put off until I'm fully healed.
I also finally (!!!) found some Pearlscale Angels. They're silver
pearlscales, and are cute as buttons. It's been a while since I've had
young ones (quarter body size) and hope to end up with a breeding pair.
I've been wanting have a pearlscale line but could never find good
stock.
I bought the only 4 they had, and one croaked. Never got to the store
for a refund before surgery, so I ate the loss. I hope they have more
stock soon. It's been 3-4 weeks since I bought the little ones, so I'm
hoping they got more in for me to snatch up.
The 2 adult Angels in the 75g didn't mind when they were added (after
quarantining of course). It was actually a little too peaceful. Today I
saw the largest of the little ones sparring with the largest of the
adults. It was so cute. She just sat there like Okaaaaay????
Kind of like a fly trying to shove a moose.
Too cute.
Anyway, that's all the new stock I had gotten a while back. I never had
a chance to post about them because right after I got them I had a few
bad weeks before the surgery, and then well you know.
OH! One last thing...I swear.
I'm going to be an AUNTIE! Yea!!!

I have 2 gold pearlscales who are stunning, so congrats on your new ones.
There have been no more pearlscales recently here until last week, when I
was so tempted!! I have resisted as my 2 pearlscales hate each other now,
both males. They simply can't stay in the same tank, whatever size, as the
smaller dominates the bigger relentlessly. I tried reintroducing them again
after 9 months seperation as they are both 2 years old now, but no change.
The bigger one is now 11" tall and spawns with a small dark marble and they
always eat the eggs/wigglers from 2 to 6 days, but they get along great. He
is a gentle giant and loves everyone. The smaller gold is still 9" tall,
loves small angels, but won't mix with them when they get bigger. I talk to
him sometimes because he will end up alone if he can't find a way to mix
with bigger angels, he appears to dislike females and males equally. Big
complex personalities!!! Mary

What size tank is the 9" male in?
It's quite possible it's nothing more than territory issues and feels
that his tank is not large enough to house other Angels in.
Of course, it could just be that he has a very aggressive personality
and won't be able to be housed with other Angelfish.
Have you tried housing other types of fish with him?

They were in 65g when he became very dominant at about 8 months old. He is
fine with other fish, very well behaved and not too pushy at food time. It's
only me who would love to have them together again, but understand it's not
possible. I may try again when I get a 125g tank next year .

BINGO! = )
That's breeding age my dear and exactly why he became aggressive.
