View Full Version : Power Head ?

Hey I am new to starting a reef tank, I just bought a power head from my
LFS. The guy at the store told me I could lower it into my tank so that it's
about 3 or 4 inches from the bottom to provide a good movement of the water.
My question is that the only way to do that is to drop the power cord into
the water so it can reach down that far is this ok ? The directions in the
box doesn't show that this can be done but they weren't the best anyway, so
if anyone out there can give some advice it would be a help thanks.

its generally a good idea to post the brand of powerhead that you have questions with when
you have a question about it, however almost any SW safe powerhead will have a waterproof
cord/housing, at least up to the plug and the depth of your tank is insignificant.

Thanks, I think I'll try moving it lower into the tank. I hope that it will
work a little better near the bottom. Thanks again and any more tips you
might have feel free to post them for me.

Most powerheads can be submerged
