View Full Version : Okay. I think I'm addicted.

At Wal-Mart, as a sort of Xmas present, they give us a 20% discount
on one item. I was thinking of using it to buy a new stereo. (My current
stereo is about 30 years old, at least.)

A lot of people use this discount to buy high-dollar items like TVs,
computers, etc.

Eventually, I changed my thinking to: hey, I don't really NEED a new
stereo. Maybe I could get a big, new fish tank!!

Is there an online support group for my addiction?!

Yep....its called rec.aquaria.freshwater.misc :-) The only problem is
that you will most likely be encouraged in your addiction until you
become a hopeless case and the only thing that will stop you buying
tanks is the lack of space to locate one he,he....

=============================
You're on it now. ;-) I've been addicted since 1952. It all started with
a 2 gallon tank of guppies.

Koi-Lo.... frugal ponding since 1995...

Encouraged?!? here? Who would do such a thing? ;~).

Check your walls now as that will determine the number of wall tanks
possible (unless a room divider tank is an option, and if it is, I know
of a really sweet model). Keep in mind that there are pie shaped tanks,
hex and stretched hex for those awkward spots.

Flat surfaces which would hold any weight (office, kitchen counter etc)
will be the next targets. If you really run out of room, I'm quite good
at suggesting convenient spots to build them into walls ;~).

I have this vision now of my living room becoming a long series of
parallel hallways O_o

What are pie shaped tanks? You've given me a vision of a tank with a
pastry crust rather than a hood - lol

The only thing that worries me about tanks as room dividers is the algae
scraping.....mind you the algae spots wouldn't be as bad as crayon
placed on walls by toddlers :-)

Gill, run out of space for anymore tanks

http://www.oceanicsystems.com/ under bowfront & corners, show a 54g and a
92g corner aquarium. In the store we put a couple together to make a
half-moon (which Oceanic will soon be introducing). We were thinking
about putting 4 together, but they wouldn't let me do it ;~).

That's the spirit! Room divider tanks have all their hoses (if
applicable) at the wall end, along with the wiring (unless run down from
the ceiling disquised within plants). This makes the filtration and
heating a bit more tricky. Also a conventional canopy is no good as you
need two-sided access, so it's better to do a DIY canopy (plans on my
site which could be modified). Jebo makes a particularly good tank for
this as the front, back and one side are a single molded sheet of glass
(no silicone seals to see).

You could always add one more, but it might be better if you don't ;~)
