Tink,

Cut out the other groups if you are going to reply.

rec.aquaria.freshwater.misc,rec.ponds,alt.religion .jehovahs-witn,alt.free.newsservers

I guarantee that if you don't, within several weeks this ng will be
flooded with hundreds of posters who don't even care about
rec.aquaria.freshwater.misc. AND THEN YOU CAN KISS IT GOODBYE.

You want proof!? Subscribe to rec. ponds for a day or so. You'll
notice that most sregulars are gone and everyone is talking about a
whole lot of "crap".

Ask Elaine is you need proof!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please check to see if your newsreader will allow you to cut out OTHER
ng.

Thank you.

You got it. Kids (of all ages) who used to rip boards off fences or put
sacks of crap on peoples porches and ring the doorbells have transferred
their attentions to the internet. They can annoy so many more people that
way.

Best thing to do is not to reply at all.

My old newsreader (Gravity) allowed me to delete all articles posted to
more than "n" groups, so I never saw them. My new newsreader (Pan)
supposedly has the same ability but I haven't been able to get it to work
yet.

Thanks Larry.
I just noticed that it said this:>

When I responded. I didn't notice it before. Sorry all = /
If you know how to stop this cross posting, please let me know.
I don't purposely do this, never have and just realized it was doing it
just before I read this post.
What a shame this troll screws things up for folks.
I'm done with the nitwit now.
My last post to the troll, was just that. The last.
I, and I'm sure others as I have already seen, will still give out
correct advice to somebody who asked about Bettas. It's already
happened and I didn't respond to the errors the troll gave out. I'm
sure folks can figure it out when they have several others saying the
same things and then the troll saying the opposite.
Once again...so how do I stop this cross posting? Why on earth would
this fish talk be going into some religious group anyway? How stupid.
And ponds? Bettas don't belong in ponds (unless you're living in maybe
Thailand).
What's the purpose of it being added onto those areas?
Just to be a troll and cause trouble?

Tynk,

How depends on how you're posting. Looks like you're posting via
google. If so, instead of hitting the "Reply" hyperlink at the bottom
of the message to which you're replying, click on the "show options"
hyperlink next to the name of the poster to whose post you're
replying. There you'll see, under the other headers, a "Reply" link
(at the start of a long line of links). (This will also show you all
the groups to which this message was posted.)

When you click on this link, you'll be taken to a new page. On this
page, in the "To:" area, you can choose via radio buttons to send to
the person or the group(s). If you see other groups, just delete them
(they're separated by commas, so be sure to remove the appropriate
commas).

Note: You can experiment a bit with this in the thread in question
without actually posting your reply - just so you can see the headers
(under "show options") and what the reply screen looks like with
multiple groups listed.

And Larry makes a very good point and we should all be careful not to
accidentally respond to multiple groups...

Hope that helps.

Liz

Yes, I have been clicking on the "show options" link and replying that
way.
This Google thing was new to me, as I used to get here from aol, and
when they stopped doing that, somebody told me to access it through
Google.
Then I was replying like you thought I was now...and somebody told me
to hit the "show options" button so that the text of the post would be
there as well...
I never thought it would automatically send a message to all sorts of
other places.
When I went through aol, it didn't do that, so I never had to think
about it. = /
I saw what you mean about the "send to" area and looked at one of
Koi-Lo's posts. Sure enough....they have all sorts of other sites on
there.
I still don't understand why this person feels it necessarry to do
this.
Now that I know how this happens, I'll be sure to check it every time.
Thanks for the education! = )

That's what I am doing. I haven't responded to any of the other
"followers" either.(there was one post to one of them...before I was
educated that it was a follower) The only responce from me in that
thread was to "Steve" who asked to stop as well, and I explained that I
already have.
Like I wrote in the message to "Steve" in that thread....
::puts on a cone shaped paper hat::
::sitting in the corner trying to clean off the crap on my shoes that I
stepped in::
Sorry that it stinks so bad, but I have learned.
