My next project idea is to make a small trickle filter powered by a
mini-jet 404 with connecting the hose from it to over the created
(made from a small plastic container with the bottom and top (if need
be) cut out) trickle filter. The water would leave the open hose over
the filter and fall on a layer of filter media (fluff), gravity then
pulls the water beneath that and through a layer that is a drip plate
(either made or bought/modified from an existing trickle filter drip
plate), then gravity pulls the water through the drip plate and under
that the drops would land on bio-balls, then gravity would pull the
water through the chamber of bio-balls and drain back into the
aquarium. The tank in question would actually be a 2 gallon drum for
me, and I would add a 8 inch visi-therm stealth for heating then
maybe a light. What do you all think? I know it's not as pretty as
dan white's tank (dan white might have actually made the right choice
in small betta tanks after all as the motor might get as hot as it
does because it is overpowered to make sure it starts back up every
time after a power outage) but it would be great and flexible in my
opinion. I dig this idea! Thanks and later!
