Hi all,
Yep, t'is me again with a neat new problem.
I recently got a new goldfish for the 30 gallon tank. He's been in
quarantine for the last 2 weeks (less one day) when I noticed that he
has a problem in his left eye.
The right eye looks perfectly normal but the left looks like the White
Witch in Narnia's eyes. ie. Completely dead black. It doesn't look
like the eye is missing, more as if the pupil has opened up so
completely that you can't see the outer iris at all.
I haven't moved him from the quarantine tank and don't plan on doing
so at the moment, but I'd like to figure out if this is something
catching or simply due to some accident the poor thing had in the
tank.
Water quality is fair to good. The nitTRATE is a bit higher than
desireable, but not impossibly so. I'll probably do another water
change soon because of it. The pH is also higher than I like, though
I'm not sure what I can do about that at the moment. Everything else
is solidly in the acceptable ranges. No ammonia, no niTRITEs
whatsoever.
The main thing is being sure this isn't going to hurt the two healthy
fellows in the big tank and knowing what to do to treat the problem,
if I can.
Thanks!
Deborah
