Looking for the groups wisdom on the best temperature to keep my
planted freshwater tank at. Present occupants include Neons, Otos,
Rasboras, Corys, Clown Loaches & Hatchets.
I realize no one temp is ideal for them all, just hoping to settle on
a 'best compromise'.
Regards, Al.

Both my tanks are @ 28C. I have 3 glowlight tetras, 2 CL loach, 3 Yoyo
loach, 1 banded rainbow and 1 zebra diano. also planted. They all seem
to like it.

My understand is that 78 F is good for most of the tropical fishs. You
will have to check the plants. Some require colder/warmer water.

It's the rare fish that I can't keep at 77F/25C. This is probably a good
temperature for your mix as well, as warmer water has slightly lower O2
levels (and you have 3 riverine bottom feeders which do well in higher
O2), your smaller fish (Neons & Rasboras) will live longer (heat ages),
and much cooler water is not appreciated by most Hatchetfish.

I'm new to aquariums, but this is how I did it: I looked up the species
of fish I had on the internet as to what region and body of water they
were from and then found out the temperatures and water conditions (pH)
of this system. I tried to match my tank to this water. Simple enough.
