Hello everyone,
I would like a recommendation for salt water reef tank care book. We are
new to salt water aquariums (any aquariums for that matter).
We had a 55 gallon tank given to us complete with some fish, lots of rock,
pumps, filters, liquid nutrients, lights and other stuff. The one thing we
didn't get is an "owners manual". We've lost a few anemones and a shrimp
and a piece of coral. We'd like to learn as much as we can before we loose
anything else.
Thanks for any help!

'Simplified reef keeping' from simplifiedreefkeeping.com

And another good one is
"The Reef Aquarium" by Charles Delbeek and Julian Sprung.

Ditto on the books by Fenner and Tullock.
The most important lessons I learned as a newbie (I still am, a couple
of years after starting my first tank):
- have plenty of water movement, try to get surface agitation
- use RO/DI or distilled water (if distilled, test copper level)
- get a good protein skimmer

Thanks for the help! I've ordered some books that have been recommended

No, they aren't. Did you look on half.com or Amazon?

I thought this is a cheaper hobby then one I had before (piloting
airplanes), but it turned out to be almost as expensive :)

Also, you'll sometimes find these books on eBay.
