copepods for mandarine goby

Does anyone know where I can get some of these to seed with? Any suggestions
on how to raise these things properly, and have enough for a mandarine
before he eats it all?

My understanding is that you seed your refugium and let it simmer for 6-12
months before acquiring the fish.

it apears that this .AM reefcentral is downish, when its up check out the breeders forum,
the stickie at the top has information

as to where to get them.

faf, aquaticeco, several other places have them, feeding well in a seperate culture
container will allow the culture to take off and large daily feedings will be easy within
days.

Also, if you have live rock in your aquarium, they'll grow naturally there.
But again, it'll probably take at least six months before your take has a
stable enough population to be self-sustaining. (Keep in mind that the algae
food of the pods has to be established enough as well to sustain a large
population of them.)

This is a continuous problem, not a one-time problem. You need a large
enough ecosystem to support the active predator. Rule of thumb I've heard is
about a 50 gallon tank full of live rock (50-75 lbs), running for 6mo-1yr prior
to introduction of the fish, in order to support a single mandarin dragonet.

(This is without a refugium. A protected refugium may be able to reduce the
overall tank requirements.)

I fairly new at sal****er but I have a mandarin and he eats live brine
shrimp when I feed my seahorses and now he's started eating the frozen
mysis shrimp. I mixed the frozen with a few live brine and put them
in a patch of caulerpa with a turkey baster teaching the seahorses to
eat the frozen mysis. One day I noticed the mandarin over there going
through the tangle eating the mysis.

Maybe they eat them naturally and I never noticed but now mine eats it
all the time.

Might slow down his appetite.
