The suspects:

Cardinal Tetras
Otos
SAEs
Tiger Barbs
Rosy Barbs
Yoyo Loaches

My money is on the Yoyo's since the lawn (hairgrass) came with Snails. I did
disinfect the plant, but maybe a few eggs survived.

Are the SAEs true SAEs or are they generic "Chinese" Algae eaters? Rumor
has it that the Chinese Algae eaters are quite the furniture movers when
they get bigger.

YoYos like to dig. I've seen small ones in a
10 gal aquarium at a fish store, thin layer of
gravel on the bottom, and they're frantically
trying to bury themselves in the gravel.

Mine like digging under decorations and driftwood,
and squeezing into small PVC pipe. I don't
think it has much to do with the snails.

They did come out of a mixed tank, but the guy that picked them out knew his
fish. They have the stripe all the way to the fork in the tail.

Thanks, hopefully once the new grass develops some roots, it will be less of
an issue.

My first Yoyo used to squeeze himself into cracks inside the ornament. I
thought I'd lost him several times.
