I've got one fish with what I think is Red Pest. I've treated twice with
ParaGuard (mostly Malachite Green). The effect was fabulous, the red
splotches cleared up almost immediately. But they are back for a third time.
I probably did not continue the first course long enough (2 doses), although
from what I've been reading Malachite Green may not be the best treatment.
I'm now treating with Kanaplex (Kanamycin), which does not seem to be doing
as much good as the ParaGuard. But hopefully it's doing more to treat the
inside of the fish. I also soaked some food in a small amount of the
Kanamycin and Garlic. I don't know how much of the meds were absorbed into
the food. It really blows my mind that fish like Garlic. I've also added
some salt to reduce the osmotic pressure. The fish seems to be eating OK,
but who knows what sort of internal damage it has.
Any other recommendations?
