cobwebs?!

Hi All,

Noticed in my smaller reef tank in the last month or so that i have what
look like cobwebs between some of the rocks, they are not coral feeding
strings since on a good number of the rocks there are no corals nearby.

They are all strings rather than webs, notice them more when i have a water
change when things get stirred up they act like cobweb streams and collect
any passing debris..

Any ideas?

Underwater spiders!!?? nah......

Vermited snails do that. I have a large vermited that sends out a web about
6 inches long during water changes.

Tube Snails. They send out a mucus thread for collecting
food, and then suck it back in to eat the traped food.
These snails don't crall around, but are attached to the
rock. Somewhat sharp and fragel, look alot like tube worms.

Yep that be them. I think it's spelled vermetid snail.
I just call them tube snails :-)
