Hello all,
In my zeal, I now realize I've been over feeding my GF. His right
side is swollen, like there's is a big knot inside. He's released some
poop in long strands I am 99% sure this is due to to him being
impacted. He is still eating, but is sluggish, otherwise he looks fine.
How can I bring him around?
Thanks for any help.

I've never tried this myself but read that 1 Tbs. of Magnesium Sulfate
(Epsom Salt) per 10g tank water will get them to pass feces. Try feeding
your fish more defrosted brine shrimp and blood worms and less dry pellets
or flakes.

run the heat up (increases intestine motility)
stick a crystal of epsom salts into a pea (skinned) and feed.
dont feed anything else for 1 day per inch of fish. so a 4 inch fish wont be fed for
4 days or so.
then a couple grains of rice, a bit of pea to see if everything is working and THEN
begin feeding very small amounts more often per day. Ingrid

Ingrid has the right idea. I used a tiny bit of prune and a grin of
epsom salt pushed into it - it worked wonders. Epsom salts draw water
from the body into the intestine thus making the fish go. Its the
same thing as in one of those over the counter constipation things.
Milk of magnesia I think?
Best of luck

Thanks folks,
My thanks to everyone for the help. I'll try the epsom salts in the
pea. I'm really fond of my little guy. I hope he'll come around. I'll
let you know.
