lead weights

Should I remove the lead bands around the base of my anacharis? The
answer seems obvious, but they are so nicely bunched right now...

I don't believe the lead will hurt anything, but anacharis that
tightly bunched won't grow well, no light gets to the bottom leaves
and they fall off. It won't hurt, but won't last looking the way it
does now.
