I'd like to get something to take care of the lgae in my goldfish
tank. I have one goldfish and am wondering if any algae eaters can
handle cool water. Maybe a snail or two that won't reproduce to the
extent that I need to get some clown loaches and then start a new tank
and then... ;-)

Any advice?

Try a couple apple snails. They do ok in ponds so a goldfish tank should be
fine.

why not try a hong kong Plec, they aren't really plecs, not even sure they
are even form hong kong either lol, but I think they eat algae and live in
cold water systems.

My cousin has a 15 or 20 gal tank with 4 (I think) gold fish in it.
She has a chinese alge eater in it. The gold fish hang around at the
top, and the CAE had range of the bottom. It seems like a good set up,
although personally I can't wait for the dumb CAE of ours to die, then
maybe we can do something better with the small tank. What is the
saying? YMMV?
