Question, in the last week or so my Mickey Mouse platy's belly has
grown/swelled to twice the normal size. Is it possible she is pregnant?
Now this may sound weird because she is the only platy in the tank, however
she and one of my guppies have been inseparable ever since I introduced the
guppies two months ago. Every night I watch TV and look over at the tank,
and that one guppy and platy are always together! Is it possible my platy
"hooked up" with some one from the other side of the tracks?

Signed,

NOT READY TO BE A GRANDFATER YET!

Genetically (Platy+Guppy), nope. It might be pregnant from stored semen
(from earlier visits from a male, will last 3-4 months). It's just as
likely to be ill too. ymmv.

Regarding your crayfish, I think that one's going to stay a loner. Some
Crays can be kept with their own kind, but the tank is small, and I don't
know if your Cray is even the co-habitating type.

================================
Platys and guppies can give birth a few times from one mating. She may also
have a tumor or dropsy. You'll know soon enough.

Well, my platy didn't make it. The sad part is, he/she was the first fish I
use to cycle my aquarium a year ago. He'll/she'll ne missed.
