View Full Version : serial plant death

I find that whatever plants I put in my coldwater aquarium die after a
few months. They don't seem to grow any, either.
I have a tank solely lit by quite a powerful fluorescent tube, but
receives no daylight. Sometimes I've put in plant food. Sometimes the
fish have trashed the plants. But in the end they die, often with the
leaves turning brown. Any solutions?

First - are your SURE they're real underwater aquarium plants? Many stores
are selling HOUSEPLANTS as aquarium plants. These are doomed no matter what
you do. Real water plants need certain conditions to live and grow such as
the correct PH, enough light and a good plant fertilizer. There's a NG
where you can ask about plants with some knowledgeable people who can advise
you.... rec.aquaria.freshwater.plants.
