=========================
Welcome to the hobby Justice. :-) My mother bought the first tank (for me
and my brother) in 1952 and I've been into fish ever since. My brother has
them on and off. His interest isn't as deep as mine.
Right now I have:
2 - 55 gal tanks.
5 - 10g tanks.
1 - 5g tank.
7 - assorted bowls and jars of bettas.
Not set up:
3 - 2g tanks/dividers.
1- 30g Long tank
I have bettas, platys, koi and fancy goldfish.
The GF are bubble-eyes, moors, orandas, celestial eyes, lionheads,
shubunkins and pearlscales.

At the moment, 11 Monos (Monodactylus argenteus) and too many Julies
(Julidochromis regani) are my two species tanks (along with a bushynose
and a few botia).
> How manny and what size tanks do you have?
I'm not really sure as most are in storage or various stages of work.
I'm sure I have a 120g (current project), 66g (with fish), 60g (empty
drilled tri-20 tank, to repair), 50g (empty, drilled, open plant tank, to
repair), 40g (with fish) and then some 30 and 20g in storage. I try to
keep under 8 tanks.
> how long have you been keeping fish?
1969 (?), visited a family friend who had a 'huge' tank (probably just a
55g, but I was only 11 years old ;~) filled with fancy Guppies. He was a
doctor and talked with such an enthusiasm about the technical &
behavioural nuances, that I got 'hooked'. I've kept fish on & off since
then, and worked in pet shops when I was about 13 (for store credits in
fish supplies) and later managed 3 fish depts for a couple of years
(semi-retirement/hobby ;~).
> Do you have a favorit fish, Why?
Probably too many favourites to list and for different reasons, but I'll
try ..for action, Monos ..for entertainment, Clowns ..for suspense, mbuna
...for genuflection, Discus ..for loud company, Oscars ..for quiet
company, Black Ghosts ..for large company, Frontosa ..for activity,
Corys ..for chaos, Kuhliis ..for brilliance, Congos ..for color
(depends what color ;~).

I've had fish on and off since I was a child. Through my adult life I've
kept goldfish (with some breaks) for a number of years and then got
bitten by the Tropical bug and have been keeping these for around 18
months or so.
I've got 7 tanks currently up and running. The capacity is in Imperial
Gallons rather than US.
47.5 Gall Community (about to be upgraded to a 130 gall plus)
3 Boesman Rainbows
2 Red Rainbows
3 Flying Foxes
? number of Otos
4 Platys (at last count)
1 Guppy
4 Neon Tetras
1 Queen Arabesque Plec
3 Blue/3 spot/opaline Gouramis
47.5 Gall Malawi tank
Lots of Melanchronis Blue Johannis - have lost count but started with 3
adults
4 Yellow Labs plus fry
3 Maylandia Lombardi - lots of fry in various stages of growth
2 I've struggled to identify but looking at Christmas's PFK I'm pretty
sure they are Copadichromis trewavasae (but I don't really have a clue)
1 Snowball Plec
Doesn't sound many but if you saw the number of fry/juvs you'd know why
I'm continually worrying about the stocking level. Lost quite a few of
my original purchases due to "Mbuna in-fighting" but all seems
reasonably settled for now - that is of course until a new challenger
comes up for the Alpha position.
30 gall tank (my son's)
2 Pearl Gourami
4 Mollies (homegrown)
6 Rasboras
6 Glowlight Tetras
2 Yoyo loaches
7.5 gall Hex
Approx 12 Blue Eye Gertrude Rainbows
5 gall tank
1 Betta (red, called Boris)
4 Blue Eye Gertrude Rainbows
5 gall tank (QT)
3 Platys along with the 3 fry they produced the day after I bought them
6 Blue Eye Gertrude Rainbows
15 gall
2 "Powder Blue" Dwarf Gouramis
1 Blue Ram
4 Rummy Nose Tetras
4 Julii Cories
and temporarily home to 3 small Clown Loaches bought today...hopefully
they will clear up the snails before moving on to the new tank when it
arrives.

All community tanks: one 30g long, three 20g longs
(one new), two 10gs (one of these to be replaced with
one of the 20gs), several Eclipse tanks for hospital
& quarantine purposes.
-Neon tetras, bloodfin tetras, bleeding heart tetras
-various Cories including 2 types of pygmy cories
(I'd have more if I could find them)
-skunk botia, yo-yo loaches, kuhli loaches
-2 African Dwarf Frogs
-assorted otos
-2 female Bettas (different tanks)
No favorites, except for the frogs, the pygmy
cories, the kuhli loaches, the ... ah well. :)
Plants: Crypt wendtii, java fern, something
unidentifiable (possibly a hygrophilia?) that
grows above the water and gets a small lavender
tube flower that hummingbirds would love if
they got inside the house <g>
Also two Green Spotted Puffers which were a
mistake; I thought they were dwarfs. In my
set-ups the max size is 3" (one of the yo-yo's). A
6"+ fish (adult size of these Puffers) is NOT "dwarf"!
I had a 10g tank w/ guppies and who knows what
else in the 1960s; started up again about 8 years
ago when my husband gave me a 10g set-up for
Christmas. So it's all his fault!

What a fantastic summary of our wares!
I hope my list works, I made up grid in a text file then copied and
pasted. Don't know how it will look at your end:
Fish species in my tanks 1/15/06
10U 10BR 10LR 29 75
Black Angelfish 1
Black Lyre Mollies 1 1 1
Bleeding Heart Tetra 6
Blue Gouromi 2
Clown Loaches 2 3 6
Harlequin Raspora Cyprinids 8
Juli Cory Catfish 2
Emerald Cory Catfish 2 2 2
Platies, Top sail 2 1 4 4 1
Plecostomas, Marbled 1 3
Red Serpae Tetras 8 7 2
Swordtails 1
White Clouds 8
Siamese Algae Eaters 1 7 9
I started being a "fisherman" as a kid. Lost interest. Got a 55 in
1980s. Retired to Marfa, Tx in 1991, started fishing again in 2002
with a 75 gallon tank bought on eBay. I drove 700 miles round trip to
get it and its base. Bought the other tanks on eBay, but had them
delivered. One 10 gallon didn't arrive for 6 months after I paid for
it, weird.! Bought the fish and plants via Internet vendors.

I started this hobby in 1983.
my favorite fish are:
1) Geophagus Jurupari eartheaters. Awesome looking, preastoric looking,
non agressive cichlid yet sticks up for itself, best looking dorsal fin
out of any fish IMHO.
2) red tailed black shark. sheer looks, awesome. yet can be nasty and a
bully.
3) buffalo head cichlid. i love ugly.. and fish w/ bumps on there heads :)

1 red-tailed back shark (3.5")
1 giant gourami (6.5")
1 plecostomus (3.5")
1 black ghost knife (3")
1 Geophagus Jurupari (6")
4 silver dollars (2.5")
1 buffalo head cichlid - male (3")
this tank is very happy. all tank mates get along just fine and water
conditions are great. I water change 30-40% a month. As the giant
gourami grows I'll start removing fish.

We've got a 10 gallon community tank with some male feeder guppies, a
couple of fiesty Rosey Barbs,a couple of Glassish, a CAE and a plecto.
I've also got a 29g goldfish tank (2 comets and a red feeder)with a
rubber-mouthed/nosed plecto. Will be moving the 10g community gang into
a 33g tank in next few weeks. Been keeping fish off and one for 45
years (gadzooks! has it really been that bloody long?).
My favs are the Rosey Barbs. Just like'em.

Hi there,
I have been keeping fish since August 2001, although I did have
goldfish in my room as a kid and always loved the shubunkin best.
I have a 70l sof****er tetra tank to be "pretty" in the lounge,
a 55g tapwater (hard) malawi cichlid tank along the shortest wall
in the dining room, a 30" tank in my study containing axolotls
and above my desk, a 2g tank containing a female betta and an
apple snail. If you're interested I have more info on the fish
and photos of them and the tanks at http://www.gorge.org/fish/
I really got into fishkeeping because I wanted axolotls, and
read that I should get experienced at fishkeeping first. So I
got my 2ft tropical tank and learnt about the cycle and so on...
Then a friend told me he had a brand new 4ft tank and all the
equipment, which had sat round his house for ages, but he now
realised he didn't have room. It was mine if I picked it up.
So I went and got it, and built a cabinet from scratch for it
to go on (cheaper than buying one). Sometime after this another
friend offered me his old 30" tank, no equipment. My partner
didn't think we had room, so it had to get crammed in my study.
But the sideboard it's on isn't that strong, so I could only
risk half filling it. Then I thought "I can put axolotls in it!"
When I eventually got axolotls I found that they are so simple
to care for! Just a cheap corner box filter driven by an airstone,
and keep out of bright sunlight and in a room of medium temperature.
If I'd got them first I probably wouldnt have got into fishkeeping
in general. Dunno if that would have been good or bad ;) It
would have been easier for sure!
Plants - I got a mixed selection from java-plants, and the ones
Ive got are the ones which grew... mainly amazon swords and java
moss, nothing exciting. The selection was great but only the hardy
ones seem to like me. But I don't do anything special WRT light
or CO2.
Favourite fish: I like my two catfish, Algernon and Dot. But
that's just cos Algernon (a common pleco) is the only fish Ive
had since I started, and Dot (a clown syno) is beautiful.
But those are individual examples of fish; I dont really like
catfish as a favourite *species*. I guess that goes to axolotls.
But I also have a soft spot for tiger barbs, and I'm loving my
new cichlids. Just a shame that the active fish that are so fun
to watch are so damn mean to each other!
Hope that answers your questions!

Plants... Spread among my tanks are: Crinum Thaianum, C. wendtii, C.
balansae, C. petchii, Java moss, Christmas tree moss, java fern, water
sprite, Alterantheria reineckii, Hygrophila difformis, Hygrophila
polysperma "Ceylon", Rotala indica, Anubias nana, another Anubias spp.,
hornwort, anacharis, dwarf saggitaria, myriophyllum, baby's tears
(Hemianthus, I think), hygrophila difformis, and something I think is
Egeria najas.
Outdoors are E. uruguayensis, E. cordifolius, water hyacinth, water
lettuce, sagittaria, myriophyllum, hornwort, and anacharis. Pond
marginals are Scirpus grass, acorus, dwarf papyrus, a canna lily, and a
water lily
Tanks...
All my tanks are stuffed with plants, as you can tell from the plant list.
- 2.5 gallon betta tank
- 2.5 gallon cherry shrimp tank
- 10 gallon tank with my latest find - Pachypanchax sp. "Betsiboka" that
I'm hoping to breed. Also a few otos and male guppies still in there
- 15 gallon commnity with an angel, a M. altispinosa, an SAE, a pygmy
chained loach, 4 Espei rasboras, 3 neons, 3 otos, 2 Amano shrimp. (This
heavily stocked tank is the only one where the fish produce enough
nitrate & phosphate for the plants.)
- 38 gallon outdoor tank with mollies, bluefin killies, florida
flagfish, a ryukin, and a coule of dojo loaches
- a "pond" made of 3 Whiskey barrels - shubunkins, rosy red minnows,
white clouds, and a few guppies
Not counting my childhood goldfish, I've been keeping fish since 1992
and worked at a fish store for a while. I've done a nano reef as well,
but didn't move it when I came west. I can't say I have a favorite
species of fish, but my favorite individual was "Spike", my tomato
clown. He had the most spunk of any fish I've ever kept. That little
fish would bite my hand so hard that I bought an algae scraper on a
stick to scrape near the anemone.
