Hau kolas..
Question for the group, hopefully someone can lend some insight..I obtained a pair of ameca splendens, aka butterfly goodeid,
to resolve some hair algae issues I was having. they got rid of the algae and set about killing/harassing any other smallish
fish in my tank in question. Due to aggression, they ended up in my Malawi tank. Therein they set about breeding. About 6
months ago they had the first spawn, with no fry lasting more than a day, I only know she had them due to difference in her
appearance. the female has been pregnant again, and I noticed today she looks like she is literally about to *explode* :).
so, trying to be more proactive about saving some of the fry, I netted her and placed her in a quarantine tank, which happens
to also house a 3" botia modesta, red-tail botia loach aka orange finned loach, aka blue botia aka ETC. so, my question is,
will the fry have any luck surviving in the tank with the loach, or will he see them as a snack? the tank is moderately
planted 20G tank with only a few ornaments. most of the plants are rooted, but I could throw some pennywort or anacharis or
something in there to float to give surface cover as well. I think it's been suggested here before that loaches will eat fry,
but what do you think in this case, keeping in mind the relatively large size of the a. splendens fry?
The loach is a PITA to net, and I'd rather not introduce him to his eventual tank quite yet. thanks for any input, not
finding a whole lot of concrete on the web so far.
