They ate 4 of my Turbos..... I always thought they were peaceful
shrimp.....they have not eaten any of the other types of snails, has anyone
else had this happen? will they eventually go after the other types of my
snails or do they just like turbos?

Here is what I think: Your shrimps did not attack your snails.
Snails died (for some reason), and shrimps just took care of their dead bodies.

Sure does not osund like the typical behavior of a peppermint. Are you
00% sure you had a peppermint, as it seems a lot of lfs are pawning
off a sililar looking species as peppermints, but then even its just
not the typical behavior of those shrimp either..I would be inclined
to think perhaps your snail may have died and the shrimp just took
advantage of a fresh readily available meal, and just doing what
shrimps normally do.

My wife told me that one of the shrimp keep picking at one of the snails all
day and it was alive and moving until I got home from work.It might have
been in a death spiral prior to the shrimp bothering it.

It makes me wonder if they are true peppermints. I will do a Google search
for the shrimp and try to confirm the type.

I was checking on the snails and I am not sure which type of turbos they
were, either Astrea or funnel turbos?

The snail was probably on it's way out, most shrimp are pretty good at
detecting the dying.

As for true peppermint's:

Some people try to sell you Rhynchocinetes durbanensis (camel shrimp) as
peppermints

I don't have a peppermint shrimp, but my skunk cleaner eats my stomatellas
and sand sifting snails. If he finds one on his journeys through the rocks
he'll pry it off the rock, flip it over and dig it out of the shell. I've
watched him do it several times. My stomatella population has decreased
dramatically. I am also missing a redheaded goby and my cleaner shrimp is
the prime suspect. The shrimp used to chase the goby and it was not
cleaning activity. This shrimp is predatory.

Small snails and limpets, which do not have operculum (the door) can
become prey to shrimps and I have seen this in my tank too (limpets).
The same applies to varies worms - shrimps eat them, pick them from rocks.

But bigger snails, the ones with operculum like astrea or turbos
are safe. Shrimp will try to nibble on them, but gets quickly bored
with the snail closed in his shell. Other situation is with the snail
sick/dying, which is too weak to defend itself... But it would die anyway.
Shrimp could only speed up the process.

Fish otherhand, is too smart and too fast to get eaten alive by shrimp.
