Hi Sorry for the repeat post but I have just changed news server and I cant
see this anwhere so perhaps it was never posted?

My anenomes appetitte has seriously decreased lately.

The last time he ate (big pink anenome about 20CM across) was 8 days ago and
only about 1 quarter of a giant prawn. His colour is still good he just has
gone off the prawns. Should I give him some hake instead. Or should I try
and get some new prawns or go for the smaller ones - the old ones I keep
frozen in the fridge until I thaw them for feeding?

Thanks for your advice,
~m

I was reading about anemones on

in hopes of getting one eventually.
It mentions that overfeeding is a concern with anemones. Once a week is
mentioned. Others with far more experience will chime in, but maybe it's
full?

Try different foods - verify what is the species of your anemone and try
to feed it what it likes... I found my bubble tip anemone prefers krill
over big shrimps/prawns. BTW - 8 days is not that long for an anemone...
Maybe it is not so hungry.

Yep, and the most important thing is proper lighting.
Feeding is suplimental.

Have you tried feeding it thawed whole raw krill, including shell?

Try Prime Reef frozen cubes by Ocean Nutrition. I thaw a cube out and feed
my anemones every couple days one of them. They seem to gobble it up.

Hmmmm - I dont know. It has been a good 2 weeks or more and he still wont
feed. The funny thing is that he looks happy as ever and is fully open at
the moment. This am I found some gooey stuff that he had expelled that
looked like the remins of something. Perhaps he had eaten something?

He is a large pink one with white tips that my clowns love - what is that?

I have had him about 10 months and never had a problem. My lighting is fine
and I have been feeding him a prawn tail a week -8 days and never had a
problem.

Perhaps I will try another prawn tail (a smaller one) tomorrow and see what
happens.
What do you think?

Maybe he just does not want to eat as often.
Also since it is inhabited by the clown fish, it is
probably also being fed by the clown fish.

What do you mean by not eating ? The food does stick and it does not take it in and just
releases it or it does not stick at all. These are not the same thing.
