Hi..
This morning I caught some silverfish in our cellar and
my fish ate them. Does anyone know how to multiply
silverfish in an easy and effective way?

Thanks.

The best way to learn how to multiply anything (what are silverfish?) is to
find out what it's living conditions are and try to duplicate them. Among
other things,... what were they eating in your cellar?

Yes. Silverfish are small innocuous flightless insects,
~1/2" maximum that prefer humid places in the bath, kitchen
or cellar.

Sugar, starch, paper, farina, dander and pollen I think.

FWIW, I've tried cultivating them, and it's not as easy as one'd
think. At least I never got enough to feed my fish with them.

Something easier to grow in large numbers are meal worms. I started with
about 25 and had thousands by the end of the year. They were used to feed
rehabilitating injured birds. Are these used as fish food anywhere? I know
they sell them as bait where I live. Somehow it never occurred to me to use
them as fishfood.

I bet all the larger fish would love them. But they have that tough
exoskeleton. Would most fish be able to digest it or would it clog their
pipes? Water insects don't appear to have such a tough covering.

Aren't mealworms high in fat content? Maybe I'm confusing my insects.

I'm not sure who you're replying to since someone reposted my message - but
I read they're loaded with carbohydrates. I used to raise them in cereal
topped with sliced apple. All carbs! They didn't seem fatty or oily. They
looked white and creamy inside.
