AH Supply Lighting for 42G

I'm considering buying the 2x96 watt Bright Kit from AH Supply
(www.ahsupply.com) for a new 42 gallon tank (36"l x 18"w x 15"h). I plan on
keeping mostly soft corals. Wondering what some others think of that amount
of lighting for the 42G. Also wondering who else has used AHS lighting and
what were there experiences with it?

I have very similar tank, 30g (36"x12" x 16"H) and I have 2x 96W (10K+Act03).
I keep large bubble tip anemone, green and brown polyp buttons, mushroom corals
and other. I think it will be sufficient light for soft corals for your tank...

I have purchased from them long time ago 3' long retrofit kit and I was
satisfied... The only problem I had with my setup was that I got sockets
which were not "splash proof" like in CustomSeaLife fixtures, you know
the ones with rubber collar, but mine were just simple regular ceramic
ones with just 4 holes for the bulb pins... I think I saw this was changed
already and they ship splash-proof bulb sockets in their kits but it is
worth to check with them.

My brother has 4x 55W over 55g tank with soft corals. He has Yellow
Leather Coral, which is supposedly light-demanding and it's doing well.

with rubber sockets.
I've been buiyng from them for couple of years and never had any
problems. I've heard taht some lng time ago they use Leviton ceramic
sockets, but I haven't seen them myslef.

I was thinking of going with one 10000K and the other as a combo
10000K/actinic bulb. How's the BTA doing under that lighting? Growing?

Anemone is growing steady and increased from 2-3 inches to almost
a foot in diameter in November last year. In December, I had a tank
crash caused by my neglegence (cleaning crew died off over time and
the tank has been overtaken by algae). Anemone was sick for more than

Now I am in a process of setting up a larger, 58 gallon reef-ready tank
and the anemone and all fish/corals are in the temporary setup made of
a 20 gallon plastic rubbermaid tub :-) and wait for their new home...

After moving anemone from the algae infested tank to a clean water
it started recovering slowly. In about 2 weeks it started expanding
as usual and even exposing bubbles on his tentacle tips...
I would risk the statement it is fully recovered now, but due to
the lack of room in the tub (rocks too close to each other) it does
not expand to a foot diameter... I hope I will be ready with new
reef setup before he starts doing this again :-)
