Can anyone ID this snail? I was told it was called a horny snail but I can't
find any pictures that match it. Recently this one came up beside a turbo
and it killed it, as shown in the pic.

Looks like some kind of conch, but I really can't tell. If you just had
a better picture.

Get rid of that thing it is a strict cannibal and comes from the Sea of
Cortez (Gulf of Mexico), lots of wholesalers are importing snails and
hermit crabs from Mexico. This guy is bad news, get him out of your
reef tank as fast as you can. It will eat all other snails and crabs and
your sleeping fish during the night. If its not the one from the Sea of
Cortez, its is the dreaded Chioreus brunneus that shows up in South
Pacific shipments from time to time. The two are very similar in
appearance and they are eating machines. Either way this guy is bad
news!!!!!!!!!

I have had him for about 4 months and this is the first time he has touched
anything. He usually just sits on the glass half in half out of the top of
the tank. Once he actually climbed into the filter.

BUT this is defineatly him!

Thanks Chris

Any suggestions on how to dispose of him?

Like I stated in the other post you will need to send him packing, he
will kill all other snails in your system over a period of time.
