I just recently ordered 6 55w Power Compact bulbs from Champion Lightings
clearance section. I got all 50/50 bulbs for $15 each, plus shipping.
I already have the ballasts and endcaps though.

I am starting to think the best way to do it is to build it myself. I have a
30" tank but had to buy the 24" pc because it was either $149 or $350 cdn.
Big difference.

Yeah, I am returning mine. It would be easier for my to do a DIY hood. I
just need to take into account my 24" PC into the 30" hood.

You can stagger the bulbs slightly, but honestly I've got mine in a straight
line centered and everything is well lighted. PC bulbs are pretty intense.
