I recently posted a question regarding what types of plastics are safe
for water storage. I had recieved a rain barrel purchased a Lee Valley
Tools that was made of HDPE (high density polyethelene) The
manufacturer is in England. I emailed them regarding my intended use
for the barrel. I recieved a reply from the company's Northern Ireland
office:
"
"Todd received your enquiry via our office in Northern Ireland.
I have checked with our quality dept and we can confirm that the barrels can
be used for salt water storage - the material used being compatible with no
leaching experienced under normal dosage conditions."
Kind Regards
Brian McAvan
I know this company also produces plastic tanks for oil storage and water cistern tanks as well.
So for what it is worth I will try out my new barrel knowing all is well.
Thanks to those that replied to my earlier post.
