I did it and there was no problem...it was quite easy. The 100g tank has
been running for months and has been as good as 'store-bought'. Just make
sure to use Aquarium Silicone (get it from a glass shop, it's cheaper) and
some strips of good tape to hold it together until it cures. Cure it for
5-7 days and test it for a couple days.
Good luck and have fun,
Dan

i have 12mm glass cut to size to make a tank 1400mm long 760mm deep and
600mm wide I am wondering how hard it actually is to silicon these type
tanks together as i would feel such an accomplishment to have built every
thing myself from scratch

Do you guys have a source of these nice bottom/top frames to put on your DIY tanks?
They look better with these frames and it protects corners from chipping out.
I guess the top one is not so necessary if you put custom made canopy, but when the
tank is open from the top under some HQI pendant, is it nicer when the top edge
is finished with some frame like in the "store-bought" ones...

Sorry, don't know about neutral cure...I just asked a friend at the glass
shop to get me the best Aquarium Silicone there was.

just so happens I have one of those nice top and bottom trims for a
55g...................seams tempered glass doesn't fair so well when a rock
hits it (long story). doesn't crack, it comes into about a gazillion pieces
and fills your floor with water/LR/LS/fish/crabs/etc.....
oh BTW the wal-mart sold "Regency" tanks in the 55g size have tempered glass
on all 5 sides.
