Thanks everyone for your comments.
Seems I might not have a problem.
Habib saw my post, verified that my test kit was one of a "bad batch" and is
sending me a new kit.
I can't say enough about a company that goes to such lengths to see that
their customers have good product to work with. I didn't even post in the
Salifert forum- he just happened upon my question and came forward. I am so
impressed!
At any rate I still have no ammonia or nitrite, everything looks good, so I
am trusting that RO/DI+IO= OK.
I am not one to add anything to an aquarium unless I see a clear need, and
I'm certainly not there yet.
Let the cycle continue.

I was and never should have left the field. I was drafted back darning the Nam days but
then joined the army so I could become an EOD tech. I'm not active anymore and haven't
been for years. Now, I just belong to allot of EOD Societies. At that time I was studying
geology, zoology and chemistry, triple majors, 5 years but no degree.I was interested in
sediments the water that transported it and the animals that live around it. Mostly
Pleistocene mammals of the ice age

That is what is GREAT about Habib. The only manufacture in this hobby that really cares
about this hobby and his products. He has given 100's of times more info than all the
other manufactures combined on forums and most has nothing to with test kits. He goes out
of his way to help people and I consider him one of my best internet friends. I have never
seen anyone like him and I have been in this hobby for 30 years.

Boomer,
Please excuse my ignorance, but who is Randy ? - purely to keep me up
to speed, you understand - LOL.

Dr. Randy Holms-Farley, writes technical articles for our hobby and has an advanced reef
chem. forum on RC ( Reef Central). Look at the "sig" and link below my name. He writes for
the two online reef magazines. Here are the latest articles from those magazines.

You can check the archives for other articles.

Boomer,
Thanks for the info. Now that you have mentioned his full name, I
remember reading an article previously, by him. The chemistry is way
over my head, I am afraid.
I thought he was British. I didn't know that any Americans had
double-barrelled names ! We live and learn.
Regards, Fishnut.

He actually doesn't/say.When Randy got married they decide to use each others last names.
Randy's is Farley and his wife's is Holmes
"double-barreled names ! "
