I just wanted to let everyone know that I purchased a phosphate sponge two
weeks ago because of the chronic green algae that was growing on my DSB. I
had tried everything to stop it from growing, decreased feedings, decreased
lighting, more frequent water changes all of which failed to solve the
problem. After recommendations from this group I went down to the LFS and
purchased a phosphate sponge that was already in a small bag and placed it
in the exit side of my skimmer for about 8 hours. It is pure magic (or pure
chemistry) no algae growth on the DSB for 2 weeks.

Thank you!

Becareful with that stuff. After it has absorbed all that it can, it will
start to dump it back in the tank. IMO I think it only takes a week or so of
normal use to "fill".

Would'nt it be cheaper to just add some macro algaes to soak up excess
nutrients?
