Hello,

I just put my first fish in my tank after waiting almost a year with just
live rock, snails and crabs. I decided on a tomato clown fish. So far
he/she has been in the tank for 3 days. He/she is not vary active and tends
to just stay in a corner most of the time. The water is very good so I dont
think that the clown is ill at all. My question is should I keep him/her as
a solo clown or should I add another clown to keep her company?

Thanks,
Mike.

I'd suggest you put another on in there with it. If it is large, it could be a
female, which means you need to introduce a smaller one to be her male.

However, you said 3 days, so what you can do is pull it back out, rearrange a
few rocks a little, then introduce the new one to the tank, then add the first
one again. It will be like it was added to a new reef and they'll hopefully get
along. Be sure to get the same kind.

Marc

Had a pair of Tomato clowns for nearly two years. One died and the
other went solo for about a year. I reintroduced a much smaller
(approx 1/3 length) tomato clown about 3 weeks ago. Appears to be
doing well hanging out with the larger clown.
