View Full Version : Dead Squid (SCWD)

Hi All,
I have purchased a SCWD from Inland Reef Aquaria and am having real problems
with it, I cant get it to switch direction unless I hold a finger over the
low (at that moment) output, it will switch once then stop,
I can hear a quiet whirring noise if I put my ear next to the SCWD but no
switching is happening.
Also I seem to be able to rotate the inner sleeve if the input is blown with
a sharp breath, no go with water however.
Details:
My pump is 550Gph Ehim 1060 connected using 3/4" tube,
I have only run this in a empty tank at the moment so no chance of
contamination
I Live in the UK as far as I know this unit is not sold here so looks like a
another wait for a delivery from the USA

It switches when you blow through it, but not when water goes through it?
Did you contact 3iQ to see if they had any thoughts on the matter?

Be sure to leave a phone number or email address or something. I called them
about 2 weeks ago and also got the machine, but one of the owners called me back
a couple of days later. I doubt they'll want to make an international call for
a $35 item, but I could be wrong.

Marc,
I have spoken to Inland Reef Aquatics and I have to send the faulty squid
back to them,
they are mailing me an advanced replacement though,
however I have asked them to also send me the replacement for the faulty one
and charge me,
SCWD's seem to be almost impossible to get here and when you do see them
they retail for
£42.00 = $77.00 a spare seems like a good idea with the £/$ conversion being
in my favour,
Most people "it seems" have had good experiences with them, I guess im just
unlucky,
Did you call them about a problem with your squid?
I have to say Inland Reef Aquatics are great, really friendly service and
they go out of their way to help

No, I was calling to find out when the 1" model would finally come out. Less
than 60 days is what I was told, with threaded connections!
Can't wait!

Hmm, perhaps I can get Inland Reef to replace my 3/4 for a 1" +$
adjustment,
thanks for the advise anyway Marc, gives me confidence that the bad one I
got was a one off.
Nick.
