Hi all,

I've been searching and searching and have not yet been able to find
an identification for a little hitchhiker on a recently-acquired
astrea snail. As I don't have a digital camera, I can't easily
photograph the critter, so I'll try for a description and if that
fails, then I'll prevail upon my sister-in-law for a digicam loan.

What it looks like is a small colony of tiny, pink feather-dusters.
They are all a warm, but not hot, pink and measure no more than 3/4 of
a centimeter (roughly 3/8 of an inch). They each have a thin tube,
with little tentacles at the end, but do not seem to be connected to a
main stem of any sort.

So far they don't seem inclined to spread at any ferocious rate,
although I've only have them for two weeks, so there's no knowing yet.

Anyone have a notion as to what they might be?
Cheers!
Vicky

They sounds like Hydroids to me, or tiny featherdusters.
