Marc,

Thanks again for your great website. I took the liberty of following your
design and constructed a closed loop for my 58 gallon tank. Had a minor
issue with some microbubbles at the start until I realized that I forgot to
teflon tape the priming tube end cap connection. Now is running great and
the polyps are nicely extended. The suggestion of using the unions was a
great one, and I also put in ball valves on each of the outlets of the SCWD.
I used a Mag 9.5 to simplify things (all 3/4" connections) and to get more
flow. I now owe my gratitude for my sump and my closed loop. Keep up the
good work!!

I'm glad it worked for you! Are you going to post any pictures of it? I'd
love to see it with the unions and ballvalves.

Here is a link to a picture of it on the back of my tank.

I forgot to take an assembled picture from the from before putting it on the
back of the tank. The unions and valves are visible from this shot though.
I threw together a shelf from spare acrylic (left over from my sump) on
which the pump is resting. Was a bit of a pain to fit onto my tank..I
bought my setup used and the stand is a single piece, so there is only a 3"
or so space for the piping to go in between the top of the tank and the
start of the canopy portion of the stand (another reason NOT to glue on the
outlet and intake pieces).

The blue device on the wall is my battery powered air pump (in case of power
outage). It is plugged into my power strip and only turns on when it
detects that there is no power. I would suggest getting at least one to
everyone who has a tank...for a cheap investment it is a great backup to
keep aeration going when the power is down.
