Any opinions by the group on external overflow / prefilters. Need to upgrade due to overflow handling capacity. Present unit is an "Amiracle" continuous siphon approx 500 gal / hr flow. Upgraded return pump from Rio 2500 to a Sen 700, split the returns and throttled the output back but overflow is just keeping even. Seems as though "CPR" is about the only game in town and I've read mixed reviews. Thanks for your replies.

you could just upsize the bulkhead in your current overflow or add a second one. this may give you the flow capacity your looking for.

I have check their website and I have found two overflows.
His single drain overflow box looks exactly like the Amiracle one.
What is so special about it you would pay a double price for it?
And his double makes no difference if you install just 2x Amiracle one.

Thanks for the replies. Current overflow 1" bulkhead can handle the flow.
The overflow channel itself is not large enough to handle the flow and the
tank collector fills to the top, and then stays even. This does not give me
a warm feeling.
Looked at the Lifereef units but the "tube" designs do not have a "cover".
Need to keep the noise level down along with possible salt creep. I do like
the idea of not having to run a venturi pump to keep air out of the chamber.
Currently run a Maxijet 1200 with the airline attached but the Rio 800 works
better for this purpose. (I am not a fan of Rio. I have a box of dead ones
in the garage along with the stories).
Will probably go with a "CPR" model to either add an additional or replace
the current unitif my search comes up dry.
Thanks again!

Try to change both: 1" bulkhead and U-pipe to a bigger diameter.
