Hi,
Vie been making some new pipework for my SCWD powered return system
its made out of STD plastic overflow pipe, it uses solvent cement to fix,
question is how long do I have to let it cure before putting it into use?

48 hours is best, but at least overnight. Rinse the plumbing with water - you
can do this easily by filling up the bathtub.

I usually like to wait an hour or 2, but I have waited as little as 5 minutes
(thousands of times) with no ill effects.
