Am setting up fish/live rock 20g and will use full spectrum 6500k 20w
x2. I want to convert this to a reef tank in the future. Will this
lighting be adequate? Any opinions or ideas are welcome thanx- Steven

From what I've learned over the last couple weeks, (I'm setting up a 75
gallon FOWLR) a full reef tank (including corals and anenomes) should have
4-6 watts per gallon, without inverts, somewhat less, so I'd say, no, it
would be insufficient. Power Compact would be the best choice IMO, from a $$
standpoint.

I was just my LFS the other day and according to what they told me you'll
need about 7 watts per gallon(AND it fluctuates depending on depth). If your
gonna go reef, the lighting is extremely important and costly. I have a ten
gallon now, and am in the works for a 40. My lighting, just to keep a bubble
anenomy and my fish happy, was 120.00(dual floresent hood with proper
bulbs). The 40 is most likely gonna require a VHO( very high output) fixture
that will run a little more in cost.
