I was wondering if anyone else has considered skylight tubes as an
alternative in reef lighting (or supplemental lighting) applications.
These are highly reflective ducting tubes normally used to "pipe" in
natural sunlight from your roof top into your house.

Theory: Further extending the tube from the ceiling to or near the top
of a tank might provide ample light. Yes, it would be a custom job, but
someone interested in coral farming might find this an economical
solution. Has anyone actual toyed around with this idea and what kind of
light output has been measured, size of tubes, etc... ?
