Hi All,
Presently, I have a 29 gallon sal****er aquarium
with not much goin' on at all. Just 4 base rocks
(about 14 lbs. total) and 2 damsels. It's pretty
much barren looking.
I want to move the rocks and fish into a ten gallon
tank but I'm torn between the Penquin 125 and the
AquaClear 150.
What I like about the AquaClear is that it only has
one moving part (the impeller) and a large area for
filter media. But the Penquin has the Bio-Wheel.
Thanks,
Jim R.

if the only reason your not considering the penguin is because the bio wheel moves then
pick the penguin, when it starts spinning slowly and jerks along then congradulate
yourself, if it stops for a day or 2 then its time to clean the sleave bearings
however any powerfilter is going to be a negative thing in a reef tank, if its a FO then
the penguin is a really good choice.

I only run a skimmer on my 10g, and i have no major issues with my tank,
just inverts that get picky with where they want to be. between the live
rock, sand bed, and clean up crew, i only have to worry about occasionally
blowing off the rock ( to remove some of the sediment) and scraping the
algae off the glass. plus the skimmer adds a little water volume and
aeration.
hope it helps
