What is the best wave maker on the market today? Is a mave maker the same or
better than a water movement device?

IMHO, Tunze Stream 6100 with the multichannel controller. Also a
rather pricey wave maker. I'm still saving my pennies for one...

The "water movement device" seems like an awfully big category (up to
and including waving your hand in the water). What context are you
reading it in?

Wave makers are one of several different categories of devices. There
are dump buckets (Carlson Surge Device), on-off powerhead controllers,
variable speed pumps and their controllers (Tunze Stream 6100), and
devices that change the direction of a pump's output (Sea-Swirl)).

Most of these will usually involve a pump of some sort, which may be
what you are referring to as a "water movement device". Just not sure
if you're including passive devices like standpipes, siphons, etc.

Ross

You forget the "Manifold" type.

What is best as the original poster ask.....
The answer is depend on the following:
Your tank need
What critter like anmone or SPS or clam you have that may need this current.
Your budget

Surge device is what i have in mind, I couldn't think of the word at the time.
sorry about that.

SPS is what I have in mind, make it your self will probably be closer to my
price range but one the bright side I am good at making things.

I was listing devices that resulted in variable water flow. On all of
the manifolds I've read about, seen, and built, they're just complex
output nozzles that quickly reach a steady flow.

Don't get me wrong, I like manifolds for distribution of return pump
(or closed-loop) flow, but I wouldn't have thought to include them in
my list of wave-makers any more than I would an eductor, for instance.

Those pretty much all your option Unless you can invent another method.
How about a "TidalWave" method that one person made. I can not seem to find
that link at this time.

What size tank do you have, and what sort of flow do you want? I think an
SCWD might be good, with a PVC return. I am planning on building one.
