Looking at this PS. Does anyone have it? Pros and Cons? Getting rid of my
Berlin Hang On (POS!)
Also looking at the EV180. Does anyone use this? How do you hook up the
pump to it. Can I just use a flexible house and drop a submersible pump in
my sump with it or do I need an external pump. If someone has a diagram of
hwo to hook this up as easily as possible, please help. Thanks in advance.

I have both. Or all three. :)
I have a Remora on my 29g reef.
Then there is the Remora Pro on my son's 29g.
Finally I have an EV-200 on my 55g reef.
There are reviews on Reef Central about these skimmers. Here's one I did.

The EV is easy. Set it in your sump, and put your pump adjacent to it. Just
make sure it doesn't suck air into the intake of the pump. My EV-200 is no
longer being made, but has two spray injectors so I have a Mag 12 with a Y
adaptor to pump into both injectors.
Super easy to use, no adjustments were ever necessary.

I have a Remora Pro with magnum pump (default is Maxijet) and a tube to
an overflow container. It worked fine for a while but I have a periodic
problem where it will start skimming plain water and overflow all over
floor (even with 1 gal container in addition to the skimmer container).
There seems to be no pattern, it first happened when I'd cleaned the
skimmer but now is random. Happened sometime last week while we were on
vacation and lowered tank level about 3 gallons before it stopped (this
is on a 40L).
Quite a while ago I left a question on the manufacturers site (or
emailed through that site) but never got an answer. I'm about to retire
this skimmer for a while and go back to the CPR that was on it.,

Jim,
If you don't use the drain line, it can never do that. Once the cup is full, the
excess will just go down the center shaft and your water level will remain
constant even in a worst case scenario.

if you are set on using the collection cup drain line you need to set it up so that it
shuts off the skimmer when it becomes full. there are some DIY ones, and some more
professionally made models, the DIY models work but the one I have, when it shuts down the
skimmer it leaves you doing a tad more clean up. though its not cleanup from your floor.
the pro models use a float that shuts down the skimmer when the container is full.

Hmmm. I'de try emailing AquaC again. I have always received very
quick responses from them, unless they are away at an event or
something.
With regards to your Remora Pro going crazy - a couple of things could
be happening:
1) It sounds like a reaction to a chemical in the water. Something
you are cleaning with, or something in the food you are feeding the
tank??? The skimmer will usually only go crazy like that when there
has been something added to the water or a wild swing in tank
parameters (like if your SG goes from 1.015 to 1.030). Can you narrow
it down? i.e. it goes crazy xxx minutes/hours after I have cleaned
the skimmer. or xxx minutes/hours after I had fed the tank or put an
additive in the tank?
2) Check your pump! The Remora Pro should be running on a Mag3 pump.
But the Mag3 and Mag5 pumps look absolutely identical! Same size,
same color, same case, everything! I had a similar problem to what
you are seeing - I had to set my collection cup WAY up, or it would
start producing ridiculous amounts of water and overflow my collection
cup. I checked the pump - it looked like a Mag3, and it said Mag3 on
the box. But when I did a volume test from one 20 gallon container
into another, it was obvious that I had received a Mag5 because it was
pumping out almost 10 GPM at zero head - a Mag3 should have been half
that. Obviously a factory packaging mistake. I kept the Mag5 for
other duties, ordered a Mag3 for the Remora Pro, and things have been
perfect since then.
